Training has begun for Create in preparation for the 2009 Design World Cup – a festival of football on August 15th.

The team ‘Dutch Courage’ will be swapping their usual blue for orange on the day to represent the Netherlands.

This is the first time Create Marketing has entered the tournament organised by Radio. The tournament is made up of 16 companies from the design industry so they are looking to make a big impact in their debut and show what the ‘Create Boys’ are made of!

The group tables have now been announced with Create facing the following:
Dataline (Mexico)
Northbank and Ripe (Austria)
Radio Radio (Germany)
Cosmos (Italia)
Clear Vision (Brazil)
Herman Miller (Croatia)
Future DC (Portugal)

Sue Randall who is a Design World cup veteran said ‘Create have nothing to fear in this group and should have no problem getting through to the Semi Finals’.

Captain Andrew Gibson has been working hard to get the team together to ensure a strong squad is ready for the big day. The current line up is:
Andrew Gibson (c)
Darren Clare
Alex Whitfield
Chris Baines
Ben Hollom
Mark Halliwell
Stewart Brock
Simon Levett
Alex Turner
Paul Blower
(Line up subject to changes)

To prepare for the day, friendly matches have been organised to get the guys used to playing as a team. The most recent friendly game against the Environment agency saw the team which was made up of Create and Radio lose 9-3. Despite the loss it gave the players a chance to practice and show off their skills.

Everyone at Create Marketing is looking forward to the tournament. The aim is to combine a football tournament with a village fete. It’s shaping up to be a good day out for everyone including partners and family so if you fancy supporting ‘Dutch courage’ come along on the day.
